Germany won Italy on penalty to qualify for Euro 2016 semi-finals

The two giants of European football met in Bordeaux and it was Die Mannschaft who claimed a place in the semi-final.

Germany will face either Iceland or France in the Euro 2016 semi-finals after beatingItaly 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Bordeaux
Mesut Ozil handed Die Mannschaft the lead midway through the second half, side-footing home after Jonas Hector's cross had been deflected into his path.
But a mindless handball from Jerome Boateng 13 minutes later allowed Leonardo Bonucci to level the scores from 12 yards, with the Juventus man coolly slotting past Manuel Neuer.
Neither side could find a winner in either normal or extra time, meaning penalties - where Jonas Hector's sudden-death penalty squirmed under Gianluigi Buffon, to put Jogi Low's men into the last four and continue their 40-year unbeaten run in shootouts.
